The Safety and Health Technology Center (SAHTECH) was founded in March, 2007. Original employees are all from the Safety and Health Technology Department of Industrial Technology Research Institute. SAHTECH aims to be a major player in the field of Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) technology and service in the Far East, and will serve as technical support of public institutions, promote SHE technologies, and help customers in line with international standards. Current technology activities focus on assessment and control of potential SHE risks associated with semiconductor, green energy, TFT-LCD, solar cell, electronic, chemical and smart manufacturing industries. Led by Dr. Jung-Pin Yu, Dr. Chien-Chung Huang and Dr. Jowitt Lee, 18% of SAHTECH's employees hold doctorate degrees and 58% hold master's degrees. The average SHE experience of employees is more than 20 years, and many of them are Taiwan certified professional engineers, certified SHE personnel or certified ISO 45001 auditors.
SAHTECH has great capabilities and experiences in facility/process safety design of high-tech industry, risk assessment and lose control, business continuity management, chemical safety, green energy safety, integral management of ISO 9001/ ISO 14001/ ISO 45001, bio-safety, etc. Some activities of SAHTECH are listed as follows. Performance-based safety design, aimed at reducing smoke damage, fire lose and chemical accidents, are helping many newly constructing public complexes and clean rooms of semiconductor, TFT-LCD and solar cell factories. Numerous 12-inch semiconductor fabs have adopted SAHTECH in performing the mandatory process safety analysis requirement of Article 26 of the Labor Inspection Law.
SAHTECH also plays a major role in amendment and promotion of SHE policies and regulations such as OSH on Vision Zero, chemical occupational health management, process safety management, industry 4.0 safety, Taiwan Occupational Safety and Health Management system, OSH on SDGs and Carbon Net-Zero. In addition, SAHTECH provides technical services to various industries, available services including chemical safety report, fire protection, exposure assessment, mechanical and electrical safety.
SAHTECH also works closely with industry associations to contribute our SHE expertise to society, such as served as board member of Taiwan Occupational Health Association, Taiwan Chemical Industry Association, Taiwan Safety Council, Taiwan Photo-catalyst Industry Association, Taiwan Super Critical Fluid Association, Taiwan PM2.5 Control Association, etc.
