活動討論內容:

The Global Occupational Safety and Health Coalition (GOSH) was formed in 2024 by key global occupational health and safety organizations to address the critical gap in attention to workplace health and safety, a gap that has widened this year with major cuts to global health funding. In this webinar, GOSH members will discuss our goals and how we can collectively advocate for a higher global priority on worker health.

Advocacy is a deliberate process of using evidence and knowledge to influence decision-makers and public opinion, leading to better health outcomes. Through advocacy, health professionals and organizations can foster policies prioritizing occupational health and sustainable well-being, ensuring these issues remain central to global and national agendas.

Agenda:

- A global alliance for occupational health advocacy – GOSH. Marianne Levitsky – 10 mins

- Occupational Health advocacy leverage points – the UN Sustainable Development Goals and ILO Conventions – Nancy Wilk (President of IOHA) 10 mins

- What does this mean in practice ? The example of Southern Africa – Dr Dingani Moyo – 15 mins

- Advocacy tactics and theory of change – a discussion facilitated by Nick Pahl – 25 mins

- Next steps - further regional advocacy webinars and close.

Webinar hosted by UK Society for Occupational Medicine (SOM), Chair, Nick Pahl, CEO

GOSH組織介紹:

The GOSH Coalition of which IOHA is an active member is calling for greater worker protections globally and proposing changes to the UN SDGs as the current version of the goals gives insufficient attention to work-related health. Improvements in OSH are crucial if we are to achieve the health, wellbeing and economic outcomes envisioned by the goals. In summary, these changes propose stronger targets for reducing occupational injuries and illness, Basic Occupational Health Services for all workers, including informal workers, better protection for young workers, and protection of workers from adverse effects of climate change. IOHA President Nancy Wilk attended the United National Economic Social (ECOSOC) Partnerships Forum in February 2025 at the United Nations in New York City, NY, US, and submitted a written statement on behalf of IOHA and the GOSH Coalition calling for these changes. Please plan to attend this webinar as we seek to make occupational safety and health a global priority through our partnerships, collective efforts, and networks.
